Most tourists would only use Bangkok as a stopover anyway, the large number of guests are in Phuket. Free cancellations or rebookings are not yet possible at DER Touristik.

At the moment only a few vacationers in Thailand

For example, TUI speaks of 59 TUI guests in Bangkok. "The main season is in winter, now, in the low season, there are comparatively few tourists in the country" says Sibylle Zeuch from the German Travel Association (DRV).

The German North and Baltic Sea coasts are significantly warmer than at the same time last year – but still a bit cold for relaxing bathing fun. A maximum of 18 degrees are reached on the Baltic Sea, for example on Fehmarn. At the end of May 2013 it was just 12 degrees there.

At the North Sea the thermometer shows a maximum of 17 degrees. Here it was 13 degrees a year ago, reports the German Weather Service (DWD). The Mediterranean comes to a maximum of 23 degrees this week. It is warmest in the eastern area.

Hamburg (dpa / tmn) – The mere suspicion that a connecting flight could be canceled due to a strike is not enough to refuse to take a passenger along. He is therefore entitled to a compensation payment.

A plaintiff had booked a flight from Hamburg via Paris to Mexico City. However, the airline did not let them on board in Hamburg because the connecting flight in Paris would most likely be canceled due to a strike and the plaintiff would therefore be stranded in Paris. In the opinion of the court, however, this mere suspicion is not sufficient to refuse boarding. The airline carries the risk of a misjudgment. That was decided by the Hamburg District Court (Az .: 20a C 206/12). The German Society for Travel Law reports on the judgment in its magazine "ReiseRecht current".

The water temperatures in Europe have changed little compared to the previous week. Madeira, Tunis, Valencia and Oslo have increased by one degree, the IJsselmeer makes the biggest jump in temperature from 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the waters on numerous beaches in the eastern Mediterranean and off the Canary Islands are already 21 degrees warm and therefore offer acceptable bathing conditions.

There are also few changes compared to the previous week in the long-haul destinations: with two degrees plus each, the Philippines, Honolulu and the Gulf of Mexico are among the destinations with the greatest temperature jumps.

The currently strict rules on liquids in hand luggage on flights will be relaxed somewhat. As of January 31, 2014, an EU regulation allows passengers to take liquids that they have bought at airports outside the EU on board when transferring within the EU. This applies, for example, to a German vacationer who wants to take a whiskey bottle from the duty-free shop on the return flight from New York via London to Berlin. However, the prerequisite is that the bottle is in a sealed plastic bag. The new rules also apply to passengers from Europe who are transferring in the USA. According to experts, this could mean the end of the liquid ban. In 2006, the current regulations were introduced after Islamist terrorists tried to smuggle explosives in beverage bottles onto aircraft. Liquids over 100 milliliters are no longer allowed in hand luggage. Smaller quantities must be transported in sealable bags. Exceptions are baby food and medication. Rostock (dpa / tmn) – Israel instead of Egypt? If there are deviations from the planned route during a cruise, this is considered a lack of travel. Disappointed vacationers can request a reduction in the travel price.

If a cruise ship deviates from the planned route and does not call at a port, this represents a travel deficiency. The passengers are entitled to a reduction in the travel price for the days in question. However, they do not have any further claims, such as compensation for wasted vacation time. This was decided by the Rostock District Court (Az .: 47 C 243/13). The German Society for Travel Law reports on the judgment in its magazine "ReiseRecht current".

In the negotiated case, a seven-day Mediterranean cruise was to run from Antalya via Limassol in Cyprus, Port Said in Egypt, Heraklion in Greece and Marmaris in Turkey. Due to unrest in Egypt, the shipping company decided not to call at Port Said. Ashdod in Israel was used as an alternative port. The plaintiffs argued in court that Port Said was a decisive criterion for them on the trip. Therefore, they demanded a reduction in the price of the trip by 60 percent and compensation for pain and suffering of 400 euros. The shipping company paid the plaintiffs only 200 euros.

The district court approved the shipping company. Deviating from an itinerary is a deficiency, but not so massive that it affects the entire trip. All other parts of the trip were carried out as planned. In addition, Ashdod is an attractive alternative destination.

Wiesbaden (dpa / tmn) – A tour guide is important if there are suddenly problems at the holiday destination. If it was promised to holidaymakers, it must also be available. Negotiating with management on your own is not a good idea.

If a tour guide is promised in the catalog, they must also be available. "That doesn’t have to mean she’s in the same hotel" explains travel lawyer Holger Hopperdietzel, who is also a member of the German Society for Travel Law. "However, she should have her office within walking distance of the property". A contact address can usually be found in the travel documents or is posted in a central location in the hotel.

If holidaymakers do not reach the promised tour guide on site, they should contact the organizer directly, recommends Hopperdietzel. Especially when it comes to defects, the organizer must have the opportunity to remedy them. Otherwise, travelers will find it difficult to assert their claims in court later.

Negotiating on your own with the hotel management about whether and how a deficiency can be remedied can be dangerous: "It has already happened that the travelers unwittingly entered into a new contract with the hotelier" says the expert. "Then you can no longer hold the organizer responsible for any additional costs or damage."

Only if neither the tour guide on site nor the operator react to a notification of defects, the travelers are allowed to remedy the situation themselves. This could mean, for example, that you ask the hotelier for another room in the booked category.

After one long weekend comes the next. The upcoming Pentecost holidays will keep the streets clogged for the weekend of June 6th to 9th. This is what the automobile clubs ADAC and ACE predict in their respective traffic jam forecasts.

Holiday calendar: which federal state starts when on holiday? Route planner: Always find the right way. Vignette obligation: toll traps in Europe

The ADAC expects the strongest tourist traffic in southern Germany, but the routes towards the coasts will also be heavily used. Partly high traffic volumes should also be expected at the beginning of the week: in Bremen, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia there are also no schools on Tuesdays. In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the Whitsun holidays last two weeks. The Auto Club Europa (ACE) expects full motorways as early as Friday afternoon.

The following routes are particularly affected

A 1 Cologne – Bremen – Hamburg – Lübeck

A 2 Dortmund – Hanover – Berlin

A 3 Frankfurt – Würzburg – Nuremberg

A 4 Kirchheimer Dreieck – Erfurt – Dresden

A 5 Frankfurt – Karlsruhe – Basel

A 6 Mannheim – Heilbronn – Nuremberg

A 81 Stuttgart – Singen

A 93 Inntal triangle – Kufstein

A 95 Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Traffic jams abroad too

Even abroad, drivers will have to be patient on the main travel routes. In Austria, longer travel times are to be planned, especially on the Fernpass route. For Switzerland, the ADAC expects heavy traffic on the Gotthard and San Bernardino routes. In Italy the Brenner route and the trunk roads towards the coast will be full. Traffic jams are also to be expected on motorways and long-distance routes to the sea in Slovenia and Croatia https://topadultreview.com/asian-brides/.

European waters are gradually warming up under the warm spring sun: In many places the German Weather Service (DWD) measured 1 degree more than in the previous week. However, there are currently no major temperature jumps. With a maximum of 19 degrees, the Atlantic around the Canary Islands still marks the upper end of the scale – at least in Europe. In tropical and subtropical regions, the water is often 10 degrees warmer than off Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The sea off the Fiji Islands is warmest: The DWD has determined 31 degrees here.
